EU requires Germany details of a law limiting the size of Google News

The European Commission asked Germany more information about a bill that limits the size of the news that Google and other operators can display in Internet search services, according to Bloomberg. European regulators have considered a design approved last week by the lower house of the German parliament and will request additional information, said Carlo Corazzo, EC spokesman. He added that the EC had received complaints about the law.

Profile Google and other companies will be able to use freely the results of search services, only short news, German lawmakers decided. Publishers like Axel Springer and Bertelsmann, whose revenues from newspapers and magazines are declining, require search engines services such as Google News to pay for news posted. The project provides publishers voted last week will hold for one year, commercial law solely on the content beyond "words and short texts." To become law, the project must be approved by the upper house. A spokesman for Google in Brussels, declined to comment. Google does not post ads on the portal page news in Europe and claims that actually helps publishers information published by attracting users to their sites.
